Practice 07
Send a Gentle Signal
Quiet focus: Connection and compassion
Connection does not always begin with a deep conversation. Sometimes it begins with a simple signal: I remembered you. I appreciate you. I hope you are okay. I am here.
You do not have to tell your whole story, reopen every door, or force closeness before it feels safe. This practice is about one honest point of contact, freely chosen.
Practice Invitation
Think of someone with whom a small connection would feel welcome and safe.
You might send:
- A brief text.
- A voice note.
- A thank-you.
- An apology for a specific action.
- A word of encouragement.
- A simple check-in.
- A photograph or memory.
- A message saying, “You crossed my mind today.”
Keep it small and true. Do not use the message to demand a response, reopen an unsafe relationship, or make yourself responsible for how the other person receives it.
After sending—or deciding not to send—notice what kind of connection feels possible today.
One honest signal is enough.
Optional Journal
What kind of connection felt possible today?
